Tilapia Fish

Tilapia is from Cyclide Species and souf  fishes family, having a rectangle body with small scales.

The main habitant of this fish is the East Africa specially Kenya.

Nowadays, Tilapia is farming in Japan, Russia, India and some parts of America and Europe. Currently the use of Tilapia increasingly grows. After carp, this farming fish is placed the second, in terms of production rate in the world.

Tilapia fish is classified as the warmwater and sweetwater fishes but regarding its capability of living in saltwater, currently is farming in saltwater widely. The proper temperature for farming Tilapia is 25 to 30 centigrade and its growth would decrease in temperature below 20 centigrade. Fatal temperature limit is 19 to 13 centigrade.

Tilapia fish may be farmed in saltwater but in saltwater is not able to breed.

This fish is capable of growing well in different kinds of farming systems like earth pool, concrete tanks and cage.
